How come you don’t want to take it?! Either way, I didn’t take it with my 2nd child. Nothing bad happened. Its your body, and I believe you have the right not to take it. I could be wrong, since your pregnant, but thats my thoughts.

Question by sminthian1980: What happens if you have diabetes and eat before a blood test?
Diabetes runs in my family and I’m probably going to get it any time now. My job gives annual physicals and if I’m found to have diabetes, I’ll be fired. Would eating before a blood test stabilize my sugar level if I get it, or just mess everything up?

Eating before the blood test will cause your blood sugar to go higher. So for many people they’ll eat breakfast and have honey, sugar in the coffee, etc and test borderline for diabetes – then have to go back and re-do it as a fasting blood sugar to get a better reading.

So if I were you would not eat before it at all — or if you have to have very low carbs, sugar, etc.

Also, if you WERE to have diabetes, it is against the law to fire you for this. You would be covered under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). So try not to worry about that.

Good luck!

My doctor’s office only did the one hour test and said I have gestational diabetes. Since I’ve been testing myself for a couple of days (four times a day) my average is in the 90’s. Do you think it was really fair to diagnose me without giving me the 3 hour test and what can I do about it? I don’t think I have it but they seem to think that one test is enough.

Is there a way to make your doctor think you have diabetes? Like maybe if I down a whole bottle of syrup before I go?

My son is 7 yrs old and the doctor advised me that i should wait to have blood work done on him to test for diabetes. The problem is that his father and grandfather, and basically all the men on that side have diabetes.. His grandfather just passed away from it and his father who is only 29 yrs old has a insulin travel case that is strapped to him. It just worries me cause my son is tiny.. Hes always so thirsty and has to go to the bathroom quite offten .. I dont know i was hoping someone would know… Thank you
