Is it possible to have not had diabetes your entire life but then you have something happen where you need to take many different medications and from taking all those medications you get diabetes?

I personally didn’t but my sister-in-law had it with both her first and second child and my neice and nephew were both carried full term and were perfectly healthy! Good luck!

I am waiting for my second round of blood work to come back with the results as to whether or not i have gestational diabetes. My OB said she is pretty sure it will come back positive so while im waiting for the final results i want to make sure im not ingesting to many carbs. What is the suggested intake of carbs for someone with gestational diabetes and/or Type 2 diabetes?

15 grams of carbs is equal to 1 serving of carbs on a diabetic diet exchange.

When I was pregnant and had GD, my dietitian allowed me 1 serving of carbs for b’fast, and two for lunch and two for dinner. Select health carbs, whole grain…

i have many symptoms of diabetes, high blood pressure, and i have vision issues i never had before suddenly. i am worried and in pain physically for months now. she wont take me because its “stupid and a waste of time” to go to the doctor to get tests done. i told her its better safe than sorry but shes not listening at all!! and gets mad whenever i bring up going to the doctor/pediatrician.
i reserached a lot of the stuff and i think i have diabetic retinopathy which will lead to blindness if untreated!!!!!

Can you go by yourself to the hospital? If not, get a friend or a family member like a cousin, uncle or something to drive you there.

Why do you think so many more people are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in recent years than ever before? One of my guesses is all of the preservatives and junk that has been included in people’s diets as more prepared foods have been in the markets, and fast foods.

I have heard that people with diabetes should not take cold, flu or pain medications. Why is this? Also, I have heard that they should avoid exposure to high heat and humidity? Why is this? I also would love to know what it is exactly, and why you need to watch what you eat and use a meter?

My husband is diabetic.

He can eat what he wants as long as he balances his foods out and doesn’t over eat.

Heat and humidity are not factors.

You watch what you eat so you don’t eat more food then the insulin you take can handle.

You use the meter to see how well you are doing and whether you need to make any changes.

Diabetic retinopathy refers to abnormalities in the small blood vessels of the retina caused by diabetes. There are different types of retinopathy:
– Non-proliferative retinopathy is the most common and usually doesn’t affect vision.
– Proliferative retinopathy is more serious and causes bleeding within the eye and swelling of the retina due to new blood vessels growing / branching out. This can lead to blindness.

Nearly all patients with Type 1 diabetes will develop some form of retinopathy after 20 years of being diagnosed. Up to 21% of Type 2 diabetics have retinopathy when diagnosed and will likely develop some degree after diagnosis. In the US, diabetes is responsible for 8% of all cases of legal blindness. Each year 15000 to 39000 people lose their sight due to diabetic complications.

All these are reasons to be sure to have a dilated eye exam at least once a year if you have diabetes. These complications, including retinopathy, can be prevented if proper precautionary measures are taken. Talk to your doctor / eye care professional for more information on diabetic retinopathy.

Why do so many little pre teen girls WANT diabetes? Is it because of the Jonas brothers?

It’s come to my attention that alot of girls, ages 10-14 want to make themselves get diabetes.

(I’ve seen it at the day care I work at, the school I volunteer at, and in questions on this website.)

Now I know that one of the jonas brothers has diabetes, do you think that’s why? because they want to have something in common with him?
