I’m doing a project on diabetes and i was just curious to see what could happen if you didn’t get a blood test or didn’t spot the symptoms and went on living with it. Would you go into a coma? Could you die? Whats the worst that could happen?

Best answer:

Answer by Tiktaalik
You could absolutely die. But it’s likely you’d have some other symptoms before that which would force you to go see a doctor – blurry vision, for example, a precursor to the blindness that plagues diabetics.

Will I have to go to the hospital if I am diagnosed with type 1 diabetes? If so, what will i do there? Will they just teach me how to control my diabetes? Will they just monitor me? Will they do anything that hurts to me besides insulin injections, and checking my blood sugar?

Best answer:

Answer by Sugar :]!
you’ll have blood tests, injections, and blood sugar checks, a catheter put between your legs and i think thats it, nothing thats really gonna hurt haha.
they teach you control and monitor you until they think your sugars are stable enough for you to go home, then you’ll have to go back for check up a few months later at clinic, and get your eyes checked for diabetic retinopathy

10 days ago diagnosed with diabetes. He has never been a dog to eat all his dinner at once (only his chicken) but the dried biscuits he used to go back to when he wanted. Now I have had to change his eating order he does not want to eat the biscuits. It has been suggested ti maybe put some gravey or a few vegetables with it. Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by Michealla
I wish i could help lots, but if you type vets on this site, i am sure there is a vets section and real vets give you answerer’s to any minor
problems.

I can only think of boiled chicken with a little rice and a little garlic
and finally diced carrots and some fine greens sneaked in there.

Just mash those tiny vegetables when all cooked & mix it through the
chicken cook all of it together, with a dash of chicken stock, I know
my girl loved it.

I really think i have diabetes and i want to hear what some all ready diagnosed peoples symptoms were. And what is a normal blood glucose level for someone that does not know they have diabetes?
I am a kid at a healthy weight

Best answer:

Answer by an ge
depends on the type.

I assume you’re older? And possibly overweight? or pregnant?
frequent urine, and being thirsty are two signs. If you’re drinking 3 gallons of water a day and still thirsty, you have a problem.
Type 2 is linked to poor diet and lack of exercise.

If you’re worried about getting it, try to cut back on sugar, sweets, junk food (yes mcdonalds is junk, so is all fast food) and try to increase exercise. Doesn’t have to be strenuous, this can be as simple as walking 30 minutes a day.

If you’re still relatively young, you might have type 1. Symptoms are the same as above, except with rapid weight loss depite eating heaps and mental deterioration.

Obviously a person needs to go to the doctor, but what kind of tests or procedures do they do to test you and diagnose a person with diabetes or low blood sugar? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by NAN
Just a blood test. They do a fasting blood sugar which tells what your blood sugar is after you haven’t eaten anything for 12 hours.
Or they can do a blood test 2 hours after you eat which tells how your body is handling the food.
There is also a blood test they do that can tell what your blood sugar has been averaging for the last 3 monthes.
So there are lots of tests, they all require a blood test.

Question by Nicole: my husband was just diagnosed with diabetes II, he is in complete denial. How do I get him with the program?
He is supposed to control his diet but he still eating the same old crap and is also a big meal skipper. Rather than knowing he is predisposed to diabetes because of his familiy history and being african american, he assumes its just something he can’t prevent.

Best answer:

Answer by Miz Lamb
Most likely he will have to be beaten over the head with effects of not following a good food plan and taking care of himself. Most men are this way. Sorry to say that, but it is true!

You can do the most by changing how you eat and only purchase those foods. I recommend the South Beach phase 2 as a very easy plan to follow for meal planning. Good fruits, veggies, meats, things that are good for anyone!

The American Diabetic Assn’s idea of a proper diet is just smaller servings of the old Food Pyramid, which doesn’t work for most people.

Lead the horse to water by example! You cannot make him drink, but you can set the example by never preparing foods he shouldn’t eat.
