Allow me to preface my question with the fact that I take ALL prescription meds, eat sensibly, and don’t do anything to endanger my eyesight.

I have had several laser surgeries and a vitrectomy in one eye.

My vision is a lot better than it was 2 years ago, but somewhat blurry.

I am 55 and a patient of diabetes and hypertension for over 25 years. On insulin for nearly 20 years. Two years back, I was in hospital twice with pyelonephritis, UTI and pus in prostrate. Impared vision due to retinopathy, shooting pains here and there due to neuropathy, cramps specially in calf muscles are the other more serious problems. How far alkaline water can help me? Is there any chance of aggrevation in my condition if I use it?

I think that is how you spell it. My boyfriend has it. we have been together for a long time. he already lost one eye due to a surgical slipup, it is irreversable. he got the condition due to undiagnosed juvenile diabeties. now his other eye is losing vision. all we can do is control his diabeties the best we can and he occasionally get lasik to burn back some of the bleeding capillaries. but honestly, not so i can worry but so i can prepare… how long does he have?
we started dating long after he was diagnosed and lost his eye. I want to be with him. i’m not afraid of it. we have been together for a long time. he is 32. I am much younger. I just want an answer, not advice to leave him cuz it would be too hard.

What’s his age? You probably have a long time to be with him. Did you start dating this guy when he was diagnosed with diabetes? If you did, I’m sorry because he’s putting you through a lot. Why don’t you move on and find yourself a healthy male so that one day you can have children of your own. This is the truth.

Almost 4 months ago, i was in a diabetic coma for 2 weeks after developing pancreatitis. I had what the doctors call pre-diabetis but it was never a effect on my life until the pancreatitis. After getting out of the hospital, the doctors said my vision will be blurry for a while cause my blood sugar, while in the hospital was so high. But now, about a month ago…i went to the eye doctor to get a new prescription and they checked my eye’s for retinopathy. They said i showed no sign of diabetes and everything looked good. I got a new prescription for contacts and glasses. But now, as when i first got the contacts and classes. I see double. The doctors re-checked my eye’s and she said she couldn’t find anythign wrong with my eyes. But the double vision is there. The prescription is fine i can tell..but seeing double makes everything…”blurry”. I did some reading and found it might be focal neuropathy. Can this be fixed with vitamins? if so which ones..or what else can i do?
my blood sugar is now actually doing much better. When i was released from the hospital i was on about 19 different pills a day and 4 shots of insulin…now i’m down to only one shot of insulin a day and 7 pills…
Everythign i find online says that blurred and double vision is a result of focal neuropathy. That, i don’t think, i something a eye doctor can see. They can only see behind the eye…not the entire optic nerve itself….again…just from what i’ve found online
Also…from what i’ve read…focal neuropathy is just something that goes away by itself…with maintained blood sugars. But i see that other forms of neuropathy can be helped by vitamin b and such. It just doesn’t say anything about focal neuropathy being something that vitamin b can also help

You apparently didn’t read the entire post. My bloods normalized pretty much and my doctor reduced my amount of medication greatly. Eye doctors cannot see the entire nerve..only the part behind the eye not the part that goes all teh way to the brain. Which can cause damage. Thanks for your contribution though

How are your blood sugars now? I am a diabetic, and when my sugar gets high, I see double. My doctor tells me it is focal neuropathy, and the only thing I can do about it is to try to keep mt blood sugar down! I hope he is wrong!
