Herbal supplements, Diabetic Retinopathy?

Question by gerlawgoody1: Herbal supplements, Diabetic Retinopathy?
Allow me to preface my question with the fact that I take ALL prescription meds, eat sensibly, and don’t do anything to endanger my eyesight.

Taking into account the above informatio, are there any
suppliments
antioxidents
foods
natural remedies that I should be trying?

I have had several laser surgeries and a vitrectomy in one eye.

My vision is a lot better than it was 2 years ago, but somewhat blurry.

Please advise.

    Eat lots of berries and
    take bilberry extract
    lutein, lycopene,
    vitamin C,
    flavonoids (quercetin, rutin)
    vitamin A, and vitamin E
    Magnesium
    Vitamin B12

It may not improve your site but it should help give your eyes a fighting chance to not get worse hopefully.

Diabetic retinopathy involves the growth of fragile capillaries in the retina. The resultant bleeding and scarring is what destroys the retina and causes blindness. You can take many supplements that are indeed good for the retina like lutein, but it will not have any effect on the underlying disease process. It sounds like you are doing all the right things, keep it up. Hell even Mary Tyler Moore who has access to the very best medical care has had to have laser surgeries to save her eyesight. Thank goodness the technology exists.
