Is This Really Diabetes?
Posted in Causes on 22. Sep, 2009
I had to study diabetes in a research project for a Health Science Technology class, and as I looked at the symptoms – I realized I had many of them.
It also said theres millions of Americans who have it, and many more who don’t even know. So my question is, is there really one factor that really tells if you have it without visiting a doctor? I’m planning on making an appointment just to make sure, but I was wondering if there are any simple checks or major symptoms that define diabetes.
I eat healthy, exercise, and I’m active yet I still have major symptoms that they said define diabetics. I don’t get it – but I guess it can happen to anyone.
My eyes have been getting blurry lately, frequent urination, thirst isn’t that much different.. but it’s more than before, and if I get cuts or sores they are so slow healing it’s insane. So, before I see my doctor are there any diabetics out there that can pretty much tell me if they think its a yes or no?
Also, can you get rid of it? Or is it a lifelong disease that you have to battle because honestly I’ve met diabetics and all the things and medications you have to use – I don’t think I could handle it.
Thanks in advance!

You can easily check your blood sugar levels with a Glucose meter from your local pharmacy(or borrow one from a diabetic friend) no prescription needed. Your level should be about 100+- If it is Higher then 150 two hours after a meal then you have cause for alarm and should see your doctor.
If your blood sugar level is high 200ish lay off the sweets and carbs. for a day or two and check your blood again,If it goes back to normal (and not too low (70’s-) you may be able to handle it with diet alone but that is a lot of work requiring disipline and a huge amount of information(best recieved from your doctor/diabetes specialist.)
So to answer your question
It may be diabetes,or many other things
You can find out without your doctor
But you really should see a doctor.
And… Yes you can handle it, people do it all the time, even me.
Good Luck
when i found the i was a diabetic,my symptoms where blurred Vision, hunger, thirst insane as it went on,i was sleeping a lot. i just past it off that it was my lupus until i could not see anything ,could not make anything out. it scared me. i went told my dr. he right then said your a diabetic did test and i was very bad like levels was 1600 was almost dead! get checked whats the harm .
Poor circulation in your legs and feet could be a symptom of diabetes, especially if it is accompanied by tingling and numbness but apparently you don’t have those problems.
Does it run in your family?
Diabetes runs in mine pretty bad, so I’m pretty sure I’ll end up with it. I have horrible eyesight, really blurry, but then again, it runs in my family.
I exercise everyday for atleast 30 minutes. I eat healthy, stopped drinking water and eating sugary foods, etc.
If you catch it early enough, it can be stopped, but the longer it progresses, the chances of getting rid of it are less likely.
You can’t really know if you’re diabetic or not without finding out from a doctor. You could also start checking your blood sugar and if it’s higher than the average blood sugar for a person your age, weight, etc… the chances you have it are likely.
I would say go to the doctor to make sure whether you have it or not, and see if they have caught it in an early enough stage to try and possibly get rid of it.
good luck.
