Your hamster doesn't sound like it has diabetes, because it is eating and drinking normal amounts. If he was diabetic, he would be drinking tons of water, and peeing every 20 minutes. There may also be weight loss, and cataracts. There is a simple test that you can buy at any drugstore which is the Bayer Keto-Diastix. They are test strips where you collect a urine sample and if the results turn out to be a high sugar level, then it is diabetes. This test does work on hamsters. Your hamster sounds fine though. If he's drinking a lot often and urinating within 20 minutes that's when it's time to head to a vet, however if the weather has suddenly gotten hotter it could be that, but better safe than sorry.
