What could cause these symptoms in a child other than diabetes?
Posted in Definition on 14. Apr, 2010
clammy skin
sweating
acting out
They go away after he has a snack or meal. The doctors have tested several times for diabetes but all the tests have come up negative.

He must have low blood sugar. Research hypoglycemia on the internet.
This sounds like anxiety attacks.
Do not take him anymore to a general practioner or family doctor. Go right away to a child psychiatrist or a paediatric neurologist.
There are children with worst cases and are treated if they are required to do or talk therapy if the child can converse.
Diabetes and hypoglycemia have many symptoms in common. If I were you, I might look into that.
typical complaints:
My hands perspire when I have to make a speech in public, or take a test.
Sometimes I wake up in a sweat at night.
I insult people without meaning to. I regret it afterward, but it happens again and again.
I also have this =)
lack of sufficient calcium in their diet or inhibition of calcium being absorbed into their system …….. inhibition of calcium being effectively absorbed could be caused by a diet high in processed sugar, processed salt, animal protein, saturated fat, sodas, pop and soft drinks or a lack of vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) ….. you only need 10 – 15 mins daily of safe sun exposure or eat fresh salmon or sardines 2 – 3 times weekly….. calcium not being absorbed properly could also be caused by unaddressed food intolerances such as lactose intolerance …….. what are the other symptoms???? any excessive gassiness and belching, acid reflux, bloating and constipation, achy bones, insomnia, headaches and migraines, irritability and moodiness, nasty mood swings, mucous floating in the stools, ribbony and stringy shaped stools or rabbit pellet shaped stools could all indicate lactose intolerance…… calcium is needed to assimilate vitamins B12 (cobalamin) and B6 (pyridoxine) which are part of the B complex of vitamins …….. without sufficient calcium you will never effectively assimilate B6, B12 or iron as iron relies on all of them ………… lack of B12 would produce depression, fatigue and exhaustion, chest pains and heart palpitations.
a deficiency in vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) will cause nausea and vomiting, dry mouth so bad that no amount of water will resolve it,excessive urination and excessive sweating and night sweats and muscle cramps… it will also contribute to night muscle spasms, leg cramps, hand numbness ….. vitamin B6 is essential for the production of magnesium and hydrochloric acid in our bodies and must be present for the production of red blood cells and antibodies……… so without it you would be suffering from all the symptoms of iron deficiency anemia too like fatigue and exhaustion, dizzy spells, excessive feelings of being cold, nasty headaches, paleness of skin …. along with having other digestive issues such as bloating and cramping, constipation etc…. and of also being deficient in magnesium (the antistress mineral) as B6 is needed for the production of same …. eat more foods rich in B6 such as lean meats, fresh fish, cantaloupe, cabbage, unsulphured organic blackstrap molasses, unmilled brown rice, eggs and oats.
Buy yourself a multi B complex containing all the B’s ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and folate etc… as they all work best as a group…. you can get them especially formulated for children …. a liquid supplement would be the easiest to assimilate for your body.
Don’t buy any of the B complex individually but rather as a whole complex unless specifically instructed to do so by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath.
The B complex of vitamins is a water soluble complex and as such our bodies can neither produce nor store them…. therefore we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the stress related side affects.
Things that will rob you of your precious supplies of B vitamins are stress, antidepressants, antibiotics, laxatives and diuretics, otc cold and flu meds, alcohol, eating too much tinned food or animal protein, processed salt or processed sugar, eating too much frozen fruits and vegies, sodas, pop and soft drinks ….. caffeinated drinks such as coffee and tea will also rob you of your B vitamins.
peace baby
?
definately hypoglycemia is a possibilty – i would get a meter from walmart or wherever and check before the snack or food, lower than 70 could indicate a prob;lem there lower than 60 more than once is a definate problem
It’s not diabetes. That’s been ruled out. What else has the doctor suggested? Acting out may have nothing to do with the other two symptoms, it may simple be bad behavior. Sweating and clamming skin go hand in hand. Is the child hot or running around or in the sun when he’s sweating, or is it all the time even when he’s not hot. If it’s all the time, even when it’s not hot, he may have some type of metabolic disorder – best to see a pediatric endocrinologist (the can double check for diabetes too just for your peace of mind).
I think it is only a nervous dyspepsia relieved by food. Eating temporarily relieves all discomforts. The discomforts may range from neurosthenia, impaired memory, depression, irritability, diminition of senses, (smell, sight, and hearing), intrmittency of symptoms, Fear of examination in students, weakening of all sense, sight, hearing, etc. aversion to work, lack of self-confidence, irresistible desire to swear and curse, empty feeling in stomach, Fixed ideas, hallucinations(cause for acting out), Swallows food, drink hastily.
What the child would need is only three doses of Anacardium 30 for one day. But, since the gaseus elements are primary cause for the ailment, A single dose of Lycopodium 200 need be given and wait for a day. Next day give Anacardium three doses for one day. Anacardium follows very well after Lycopodium. The very next day give three doses of Pulsatilla 30 as complementary medicine to take care of the digestion aspect of oily food.
If still the clamy sweat is not taken care of which is unlikely, use one dose of Silicea 30 or Calcaria Carb 200 or Arsenic Album 30(Arsenic also takes care of Diabetis. The child does not seems to be suffering from Hypoglycema because it should then show other major visible symptoms which was not indicated in the question.
Other major medicines in homeopathy for clamy sweat are :
Carbo Veg., Antim Tart., Camphor, Ferrum Met., Ferrum Phos., Ferr.Ars (all indicating iron imbalance), Mercurious, Hellaborus, Phosphoric Acid., Phosphorus, Acetic Acid.,Stannum etc., etc.
Medicines should be given in consultation with homeo doctor.
