My boyfriend is diabetic and his diabetes has been messed up for awhile and we were just wondering if it could happen.

5 Responses to “Can A Person With Diabetes Give Their Partner A Yeast Infection?”
  1. Anita says:

Yes. If your partner’s diabetes is out of control and he is running high he runs a higher risk of getting a yeast infection and will have a difficult time getting rid of it. He can certainly pass it to you.

Anyone can give anyone else a yeast infection regardless of whether they’re diabetic or not. My wife has a chronic yeast infection and I’m diabetic… I still have no yeast infection after years of being “with” her. I’ll let you draw whatever conclusions you want from that.

If he has it, there is a good chance. Diabetes patients are more likely to develop yeast infection, especially those who have a poorly controlled diabetes. Yeast infection is caused by the overgrowth of candida albicans (a fungus normally found in the vagina, but in small numbers). Yeast infection is more likely to develop on female patients (the female hormones modify the vaginal environment). You should know that you could get this infection after intercourse if your bf already has it. You can treat it, but chances are it will reappear as long as your bf doesn’t get rid of it. I would suggest to take your bf to the doctor, in order to change the prescription for his diabetes; he should follow the treatment prescribed by his physician, begin a diet and respect this diet (it can be recommended by a nutritionist or by his physician; the diet is very important for diabetes patients), and then treat his yeast infection with specific antibiotics.

  5. Doc8 says:
