Can A Person Bring Diabetes On Themselves By Drinking Too Much Beer?

I overheard someone mention their relative drank way too much beer on a daily basis, and their physician said their diabetes was caused by excessive daily beer-drinking. Is this true?

    Kevin is dangerously wrong.
The carbs in alcohol LOWER your sugar level.
If you drink, do so in moderation and always eat and check your sugars often so you don’t go too low.
No food or drink will give you diabetes.

Yes it is true. Whats worse is if you drink alot for decades and then quit cold turkey. Thats what happened to my dad. Its called sugar diabetes. No insulin needed with sugar diabetes but not good never the less. Remember beer has carbs and carbs turn to sugar and if you overload the system for many years bad things can happen.

I don’t know about beer per se, but beer has plenty of calories, so if this relative drank a lot, he or she was probably overweight. (Drunks don’t usually go jogging.)
There’s a definite link between being overweight and diabetes.
