Is There Any Way To Stop Your Fingers From Being Numb And Tingling When You Have Diabetes?
Posted in Definition on 26. Feb, 2010
My boyfriend has type 2 diabetes and takes metformin. He has tingling and numbness of the pinky and ring fingers on his left hand. He goes to the doc on monday. It has been going on for about a week off and on, but it had gotten worst today. Is there something he can do to stop it, or make it not as bad?

The tingling sounds a lot like carpel tunnel because the most common symptom is tingling or numbness in the pinky finger. It can also be from the lack of insulin. Insulin is a chemical that breaks down glucose (sugar) into smaller particles so the body can use it. If your body is not producing insulin your body will start to break down fats and proteins which can cause limbs to loose blood circulation, which makes them numb or tingly, if this is not treated it can lead to future amputations. Not to scare you it may be carpel tunnel so make sure he sees his doctor.
Hello!
I, too, am a type 2 diabetic as is my father. As of yet I have only had tingles every once in a while. My Dad has neuropathy in both his hands and feet which are common for people with diabetes. Tingles in your hands and feet are common and I too have the “pins and needles” sensation in my middle, next and pinkie fingers on occasion. Make sure your boyfriend tells his doctor about the feelings and if any he has had in his feet.
I’m gonna send you a link to Wikipedias diabetic neuropathy so you can see some info. By all means google it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetic_ne…
Good luck to you and your boyfriend!
That sounds like carpel tunnel to me. Has he been doing some new or unusual activites with his hands in the past week? Or maybe using the computer more than normal? I’m thinking if it’s as a result of his diabetes, it wouldn’t come on that suddenly.

Since he’s going to the doctor soon the best answer is for him to discuss it with him, as his doctor knows his medical history……
What;s causing his symptoms could be any of a number of conditions or sensations as others have said.
the tingling is the circulation returning and leaving again.
warm water and constant movement will help keep his circulation going.
try going for a walk or something to get his blood pressure up.
good luck
I have used several of their programs, most have rocked, some didnt — so overall, I say that they are safe to do business with and have good programs.
