Where Can I Find A Good Shopping List Guide For Diabetes?

My partner has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. How can I find what sort of sugar contents I should be looking at in foods and some guidelines to follow when shopping.

Your partner needs to see an endocrinologist and a dietitian.
We can eat every food on this earth. We count carbs not sugar.
Try subscribing to several diabetes magazines, joining a support group to make new friends and read everything you can that was published in the past five years.
Look for fresh food of all sorts.

Being so far removed from a hospital I would strongly suggest a continuous blood glucose monitor. We have the brand Seven from Dexcom which is the most reasonably priced and convenient (available online). Check the carbohydrates on the foods you purchase and have juice available at all times. We have juice boxes with straws. Straws are very important: if your partner gets low and shaky the straw makes drinking an action instead of a choking risk.

Regular foods work best here! Just remember that all root veggies are usually high carb content, grain and cereal products are high carb content, milk products are high carb content and soft sweet fruits are high carb content unless under ripened.http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/boo…http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/boo…
