I believe as long as something does not mess your back around, you'll be find. Make sure to choose an implant that wouldn't put a lot of pressure on your back, as it is key to Type 1 diabetes. As long as your blood sugars (A1c's) have been good or better and by that I mean consistently below 7% there shouldn't be any problems. If your consistently above 7% or closer to 8% or more than extra precautions may be necessary. But the procedure itself is not related to diabetes.
